FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Blue Downs Family Festival Returns Bigger Than Ever in 2026
Cape Town, South Africa — The much-anticipated Blue Downs Family Festival is back, promising an even bigger and more exciting experience for 2026. The festival will take place on 24 September 2026 at Westridge Gardens, Mitchells Plain, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
This year’s event brings top local talent to the stage, including the highly sought-after Homeboys and Team River, alongside Mitchells Plain’s very own Ricky Vannie Frontline and Street Kings, celebrating homegrown talent in a powerful way.
Tickets are now available via www.starstruckrecords.co.za (under the Events tab). Early bird tickets are currently on sale at reduced prices for a limited time.
Beyond entertainment, the festival continues its strong focus on community development. Star Struck Records, in partnership with SEDFA, the Department of Social Development, and Young Dynasty NPO, is offering free training programmes for local organisations. The first session was successfully hosted on 5 March 2026 at Dagbreek Hall, with the next session scheduled for 29 April 2026, catering to 30 NPOs at no cost. Training topics include compliance, fundraising, governance, and other key areas to strengthen community organisations.
The festival also provides a vital platform for emerging talent across music, dance, modelling, and performance arts, while creating employment opportunities for local community members.
Entries are now open for the Star Struck Music Awards, hosted at the festival. The awards will recognise artists, performers, and community leaders. Voting is already underway, and entries close at the end of April 2026. Artists and performers are encouraged to submit their work to be included on the active voting platform.
In addition to performance opportunities, the festival offers:
- Paid gigs for entertainers
- Vendor and stall opportunities (now open for booking)
- Contracting opportunities for local businesses
Community members, schools, NPOs, and neighbourhood watches are encouraged to get involved. Limited fundraising opportunities are available for up to two schools through ticket sales and the Homeboys School Tour initiative.
This marks the third installment of the Blue Downs Family Festival, which has previously received support from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, the City of Cape Town, Bothners, Standard Bank, Shoprite, and Coca-Cola.
