Star Struck Music Awards 2026 – Celebrating Western Cape Talent
Star Struck Records is proud to announce the upcoming Star Struck Music Awards 2026, taking place during the Blue Downs Family Festival Mitchells Plain 50th Edition on 24 September 2026 at Westridge Gardens.
This exciting awards platform aims to celebrate and honour local talent from across the Western Cape, giving artists, performers, and community contributors the recognition they deserve.
Award Categories
The Star Struck Music Awards will feature a wide range of categories to showcase the diversity of music and talent in our region, including:
- Hip Hop
- Pop
- Dance
- Electronic
- Amapiano
- Gqom
- R&B
- Gospel
- Best DJ
- Best Dance Crew
- Best New Artist/Group
- Best Music Video
- Influencer/Content Creator
- Solo Dance
- Comedian
In addition to music categories, we are proud to introduce community recognition awards and dance crew categories to honour individuals and groups who contribute significantly to local culture and entertainment but may not always receive recognition on larger platforms.
Eligibility and Artist Development
Because artist development is a key focus for us, we are allowing music released within the past three years, including releases up until April 2026, to be eligible for nomination. This ensures that emerging artists still building their careers have an opportunity to participate.
How to Submit Nominations
Nominations are completely free, and anyone can nominate an artist.
To submit a nomination, visit:

- Go to the Events tab
- Select Award Nominations
- Complete the online contact form
Nominees will be required to upload the following:
- A profile picture
- Song cover art
- An MP3 file of the nominated song
- Any additional requested details
If artists do not yet have industry identifiers such as a SAMRO number or ISRC code, they may simply leave those fields blank. We understand that many local artists are still developing professionally, and we are committed to supporting and guiding them where possible.
Community Recognition
One of the most exciting aspects of the awards will be the community recognition categories. We encourage members of the public to nominate individuals and groups who work tirelessly within local communities. These are the people who help shape our cultural landscape and deserve to be celebrated.
Public Voting
Once the nominees have been announced, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artists.

Each vote will cost only R2, allowing fans to support their favourite nominees while also contributing to the growth of the local music industry. The voting platform will also allow audiences to explore the nominated artists and help determine the winners in selected categories.
Supporting Local Music
Music submitted for the awards will also be made available in the Star Struck Records online music store for purchase and download. This allows audiences to:
- Listen to nominated songs before voting
- Discover new local talent
- Directly support Western Cape artists
Artists will receive their contributions as arranged through the platform.
The Awards Ceremony
Although the awards will take place as part of the open-air festival, the ceremony itself will still be an evening of glitz and glamour, simply with a much larger crowd celebrating alongside us.
We will also be announcing exciting prizes for winners and nominees, with more details to be revealed closer to the event date.
Fittingly, the event will take place on Heritage Day, making it the perfect occasion to celebrate the rich cultural and musical heritage of the Western Cape.
Tickets and VIP Experience
Festival tickets will include access to the awards ceremony.
However, VIP ticket holders will receive exclusive benefits, including:
- Meet-and-greet opportunities with award nominees and stars
- Photo opportunities during the awards event
VIP tickets are already available but will be very limited due to the nature of the experience, so early booking is strongly recommended.
Empowering Artists Through Education
As part of our mission to build a sustainable music industry in the Western Cape, all nominees will receive free access to our Music Business and Events Management Course, presented by the Director and Executive Producer of Star Struck Records.
This course is normally valued at R7000, but nominees will receive it completely free as part of our artist development initiative.
